This piece is so pretty. It’s kind of dark, but also light. There is a real sense of movement, with iridescent blue lines floating down giving the impression of shimmery rain. It’s done in hot pinks, deep purple and a shadow of grey with a metallic gold cherry blossom which seems like it’s swaying. This painting is number 5 in a series of 5 cherry blossom paintings, which can be hung together or on their own. It's done in a contemporary Chinoiserie or oriental style. The series was inspired by the short season of the cherry blossom, which is fleeting but beautiful. Within the series I’ve tried to depict the 2-3 weeks that the cherry blossom tree flowers.
The cherry blossom is a symbolic flower of spring, a time of renewal and the passing nature of life. There is a Japanese medieval proverb, “Hana wa sakuragi, hito wa bushi", which loosely translates as “of flowers, the cherry blossom, of humans, the warrior.” Known as Sakura in Japan, cherry blossoms have long been a symbol of rebirth and the impermanence of life – a reminder that our lives are momentary, but we can find beauty if we look. In this painting I’ve tried to capture the gift of rain and the fleeting beauty of the cherry blossom.
I’ve paired this painting with another old fav track - which still gives me tingles each time I listen to it. Etta James belting out I’d Rather Go Blind, live in Montreax in 1975. Also proof that some live performances can never be remastered. Rod Stewart did a reasonably good rendition - but Etta is Queen. Listen and watch on YouTube.

All multimedia work is created using top quality materials and arrives ready to be hung, with hanging hardware already attached to the back. But should you wish to professionally frame – you can do that too.
If you're considering a painting, but not 100% sure, please feel free to email me a photo of the room or space you'd like to hang the painting in. I'll email through a mock-up of what it could look like in your living room, dining room, office, kitchen or wall.
Full disclosure: The artworks, like the artist, are not perfect. I have a Siberian Husky dog called Sasquatch and some loose strands of fur may be forever immortalized in your painting, although I can’t guarantee that either!
That said, I want you to be 100% happy with your painting and I understand that buying art online can be challenging. So, I offer a 7-day return policy. If you receive the painting and decide it’s not for you, or it doesn’t suit the room you bought it for, please feel free to return it to me in its original condition - within 7 days of receiving it and I will be happy to refund, less any postage costs.
